After your Brazilian Blowout or Keratin treatment, the right aftercare ensures you maintain sleek, shiny, and frizz-free hair for weeks. While both treatments share some common care instructions, there are key differences to keep in mind. Here’s everything you need to know to keep your hair looking its best.
Avoid Moisture 💧
Brazilian Blowout: You can wash your hair the next day after the treatment. However, for extra precaution, some clients choose to wait 24–48 hours. When you do wash, use a sulfate-free shampoo to preserve the treatment. Avoid exposing your hair to saltwater or chlorinated pools, as these can strip away the protective coating.
Keratin Treatment: Similar to the Brazilian Blowout, avoid washing your hair for 72 hours after a Keratin treatment. The key difference is that Keratin treatments also require you to avoid moisture (like sweating, rain, or humidity) during those initial 72 hours, as it can affect the bonding process. After the waiting period, use a sulfate-free, sodium chloride-free shampoo to maintain your treatment.

Both treatments reduce styling time and keep hair looking smooth. However, here's how to care for it:
Brazilian Blowout: Your hair will stay manageable with minimal effort, but if you want extra smoothness, use a blow dryer and flat iron. Avoid using hairspray or mousse, as they can make your hair appear dull.
Keratin Treatment: After a Keratin treatment, while styling tools are also safe, avoid excessive heat for the first few days to allow the treatment to set properly. Afterward, flat irons and blow dryers can be used, but always opt for a heat protectant spray to maintain the treatment's longevity.

Protecting your hair from sun damage is crucial for both treatments.
Brazilian Blowout & Keratin Treatment: Exposure to the sun can dry out your hair and cause frizz. Use hair sunscreen or wear a hat when you’ll be out in the sun for long periods to protect both your hair and scalp.
