✨Brazilian Blowout & Keratin Treatment Aftercare

Tips for Long-Lasting Results βœ¨πŸ’‡‍♀️

After your Brazilian Blowout or Keratin treatment, the right aftercare ensures you maintain sleek, shiny, and frizz-free hair for weeks. While both treatments share some common care instructions, there are key differences to keep in mind. Here’s everything you need to know to keep your hair looking its best.

Avoid Moisture πŸ’§

Brazilian Blowout: You can wash your hair the next day after the treatment. However, for extra precaution, some clients choose to wait 24–48 hours. When you do wash, use a sulfate-free shampoo to preserve the treatment. Avoid exposing your hair to saltwater or chlorinated pools, as these can strip away the protective coating.

Keratin Treatment: Similar to the Brazilian Blowout, avoid washing your hair for 72 hours after a Keratin treatment. The key difference is that Keratin treatments also require you to avoid moisture (like sweating, rain, or humidity) during those initial 72 hours, as it can affect the bonding process. After the waiting period, use a sulfate-free, sodium chloride-free shampoo to maintain your treatment.

Styling Tips πŸ’‍♀️

Both treatments reduce styling time and keep hair looking smooth. However, here's how to care for it:

Brazilian Blowout: Your hair will stay manageable with minimal effort, but if you want extra smoothness, use a blow dryer and flat iron. Avoid using hairspray or mousse, as they can make your hair appear dull.

Keratin Treatment: After a Keratin treatment, while styling tools are also safe, avoid excessive heat for the first few days to allow the treatment to set properly. Afterward, flat irons and blow dryers can be used, but always opt for a heat protectant spray to maintain the treatment's longevity.

Sun Protection 🌞

Protecting your hair from sun damage is crucial for both treatments.

Brazilian Blowout & Keratin Treatment: Exposure to the sun can dry out your hair and cause frizz. Use hair sunscreen or wear a hat when you’ll be out in the sun for long periods to protect both your hair and scalp.

Pillow Talk πŸ›οΈ

Sleeping on a silk pillowcase helps reduce friction, minimizing the risk of frizz or flyaways from both treatments. It’s a simple but effective way to keep your hair sleek and damage-free overnight.

Shampoo & Conditioner Selection 🧴

Brazilian Blowout and Keratin Treatments:

It's especially important to use products that are sulfate-free and sodium chloride-free. These ingredients can strip away the Keratin, leading to faster fading of the treatment. Harsh shampoos and conditioners can strip away the effects of the Brazilian Blowout or Keratin Treatment in as few as a single hair washing.

Brands recommended are Brazilian Blowout brand and iKeratin shampoo and conditioner, or products specifically labeled as "Keratin Safe" or "Keratin Enriched," which are specially formulated to extend the life of your Brazilian Blowout and will keep your hair smooth and shiny, as they will nourish and prolong the effects of the treatment.

✨ Waxing Aftercare Instructions & Advice

PLEASE FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BELOW TO KEEP YOUR SKIN HEALTHY AND IRRITATION-FREE AFTER YOUR WAXING TREATMENT.

⚠️ Note: Slight soreness, small bumps, and redness are common temporary reactions, especially after your first wax. To soothe the area, you may apply aloe vera gel, antiseptic cream, or use a cold compress. Always wash your hands before touching the treated area.

🚫 Avoid for 24–48 Hours:

🚿 Hot baths or showers (use cool or lukewarm water only)

πŸ”₯ Saunas, hot tubs, or steam rooms

β˜€οΈ Tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds, or self-tanner)

πŸ‹οΈ Exercise or strenuous activities

βœ‹ Touching or scratching the area with unwashed hands

πŸ‘– Tight or non-breathable clothing

🏊 Swimming in chlorinated pools

🌸 Deodorants, perfumes, lotions, powders, or fragranced products on the treated area

βœ… After 24 Hours:

πŸ’§ Begin applying a high-quality moisturizer daily

🧴 Use gentle exfoliation regularly to help prevent ingrown hairs

πŸ“… Avoid any other skincare treatments (facials, peels, etc.) for at least 48 hours

πŸ“† Long-Term Care Tips:

⏱️ Book regular waxing sessions every 4–6 weeks for best results

🧬 It may take 3–4 treatments for your hair to sync into the ideal growth cycle

βœ‚οΈ Let hair grow to at least 5mm before waxing again — do not shave between sessions

🎨 Bleaching, Highlights, Tinting & Hair Coloring Aftercare

To maintain your color and protect your hair’s health, follow these important aftercare tips:

⚠️ Note: Chemical services like bleaching and coloring can leave hair more fragile and sensitive to heat, friction, and harsh products. Proper aftercare is key to keeping it vibrant and healthy.

🚫 Avoid for the First 48 Hours:

🧼 Washing your hair (let the cuticle fully close before your first wash)

🧴 Shampoo with sulfates or strong detergents — these can strip color and moisture

🌞 Direct sun exposure without UV protection (can fade and dry out your color)

🏊 Swimming in chlorinated or salt water

πŸ”₯ Heat styling (flat irons, curling irons, blow-dryers) unless heat protectant is used

πŸ’¨ Overwashing — this can dull color and dry out chemically treated hair

βœ… Recommended Aftercare:

πŸ’§ Use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner formulated for color-treated hair

🧴 Apply a deep conditioner or hair mask 1–2 times per week to restore moisture

🌿 Use leave-in treatments with UV and heat protection

πŸŒ€ Detangle gently with a wide-tooth comb when hair is damp, not wet

🚫 Avoid tight hairstyles or pulling the hair tightly after treatment

βœ‚οΈ Schedule regular trims to prevent split ends and breakage

πŸ“† Maintenance Tips:

πŸ“… Refresh toner or gloss treatments every 4–6 weeks to maintain tone

✏️ Book a root touch-up or full color refresh depending on regrowth and fading

πŸ”„ Consider Olaplex or bond-building treatments to maintain strength between services
